Planning Resources

You may be looking around for the absolute perfect place to get married and came across Big Sur. I mean because duh…..it’s frickin amazing! From just off the coast or the highway to some incredibly beautiful resorts there are literally endless options. So, here are 10 Big Sur wedding venues that should be at the top of your list!

Big Sur stole a piece of your heart and now you just need to decide where to get married! That’s the hardest part though, isn’t it! There are literally so many Big Sur venues to choose from and this can be a hard decision to make. From budget to location to the services offered and accommodation there’s a lot to think about. Big Sur has lots of incredible wedding venues to offer!

1. Ventana Inn and Resort

The Ventana Inn and Resort is the perfect mixing of the rugged outdoor wilderness of California with the high-end luxury of a spa. This 160-acre property is located in the hills off the central coast. Ventana Inn and Resort is one of the top Big Sur wedding venues. There are 5 different ceremony sites on the property including the Redwood Catherdral, Ocean Meadow, Lawn, The Loft, Sur Vista, and The Sur House Terrance. Each location has a different feel guaranteed to fit the vibe you’re looking for. There are multiple different venue packages all including banquet tables, flatware, china, glassware, 1-hour ceremony, and 5-hour reception. Above all, this site is absolutely amazing and if you’re planning to have a larger guest list over 100 this is definitely the place for you!

2. Post Ranch Inn

This is the perfect Big Sur wedding venue for any smaller weddings. Post Ranch Inn has such a diverse amount of wedding packages you are bound to find the option that works best for you. Whether it be just a two-person elopement, vow renewal, or a wedding of up to 40 people. They offer different packages suited to what type of event you are looking to have. Their packages range from $500 to $10,000 depending on the number of people.

Something definitely to consider should you love the space and the amazing view is that they do have a pre-approved vendor list that they would like you to use. Any outside vendors (such as photographers, make-up artists, musicians, officiants, etc) must be approved by the management of Post Ranch prior to the event and must work directly with a Post Ranch-approved coordinator. Therefore, this could be a deal-breaker for some people if you have your heart set on a specific vendor already.

3. Big Sur Lodge

The Big Sur Lodge is the perfect place to unwind and experience nature. Right off of Highway 1 in Redwood forests you’ll speed right past the lodge if you’re not careful. They can accommodate between 20-80 people with options for room blocking and different ceremony spaces. Dinner event menus range in price from $60.00-$70.00 per person (excluding alcoholic beverages and applicable site fees). I think one of the biggest selling points to having your wedding at the Big Sur Lodge is the ability to have your ceremony or wedding portraits in Pfeiffer State Park. The beach is just about a 10-20 minute drive. Check out an engagement session I did at Pfieffer beach here. They are happy to set up a walk-thru and a day of coordinator which is an absolute lifesaver!

4. Ragged Point Inn

The Ragged Point Inn is the perfect central coast ocean view venue. They offer a variety of different ceremonies spot options from Redwood Wedding Pagoda to other spots with ocean views. This venue has both indoor and outdoor options for your wedding so even with tricky coastal weather you won’t have to worry. Their starting rate for a wedding reception is about $2145. The endless ocean views, seclusion, and a variety of options on the property you are bound to find something that works for you!

5. Glen Oaks Big Sur

The Holly Farm is a seven-acre privately own property. This venue is more of a Carmel venue than a Big Sur wedding venue. But, with is seclusion and accessibility I wanted to include it because you can always opt for bridal portraits before or after your wedding if you’re really set on having photos at the beach. They have three wedding packages that include accommodation for up to 24 people between 3 and 5-night stays depending on what you’re looking for with catering, non-alcoholic beverages, coffee, and tea service included as well as day-of-coordinator and timeline planning assistance.
