There’s just something about proposal that really gets the heart going! This Baker Beach proposal was truly one for the books. Brian reached out to me a few months before wanting to propose to his girlfriend Gelica. He is originally from the bay area and was using the guise of his mom’s retirement to surprise Gelica with an epic view and proposal.
He’d seen some of my other work on instagram reached out. And once he was booked, we talked all about different locations with the most epic views of the Golden Gate bridge. And he decided on Baker beach for his proposal.
As the day approaching rain storm were again plaguing the Bay Area. Thankfully we were blessed with clear skies, no rain, and even the view of the Golden Gate.

I had to vision to propose to my high school love and and now fiance in San Francisco, and I wanted to make sure this moment was captured just right, especially being 2600+ miles away in Toronto, on opposite sides of the continent. Upon searching Google and Instagram (@torezmarguerite), I immediately fell in love with the aesthetic of Torez’ previously posted work. It had the magical look I was looking for! From the moment I reached out, she was warm, collaborative, provided input where I asked for feedback, and ultimately supported the vision I wanted to create (and even elevated it). Every step was clear, and communication was warm and easy!
Of all the nerves that could come from planning the perfect cross-continent proposal, this was one of the easiest and seamless parts. The day came, and Torez was there as planned, and capture the surprise moment beautiful. After introducing herself during the shoot, she was easy and flexible to advise and take photos of us and our loved ones hiding in the wings, suggesting poses and scenarios that definitely turned out beautiful.
Within less than 12 hours, we got a handful of beautiful sneak preview shots. This was perfect and added to the high of the day. And just as promised, we had all the photos within the agreed weeks deadline. Everything went so smoothly and beautifully, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing (even the weather cooperated). Tips for Your Baker Beach Proposal
- If you can op for the morning. The view of the Golden Gate bridge is was people come far and wide for. So, morning is best to not have a crowd viewing this intimate moment.
- Bring proper foot wear. It’s a beach so either be prepare to go barefoot or bring shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.
- If bringing champagne or another treat to celebrate make sure to pick up your trash.
