When Wendy and Ryan first reached out to me we had talked about starting out their engagement photos at Sutro Baths before hoping heading to Hawk Hill if the weather was clear enough. Well, per usual, San Francisco had different plans for them. And that’s who we ended up with their Palace of Fine Arts engagement photos.
We went to Sutro Baths hoping and praying for the best. But, when we got there you couldn’t even see the baths from the top and on top of the fog the winds were crazy! I don’t think I’ve seen the weather there be so bad. And so we decided to change the plans last minute and head to Palace of Fine Arts.
Palace of Fine Arts Engagement Photos
It was surprisingly sunny at the Palace of Fine Arts. It was like this little space filled with sunshine while the rest of SF was covered in clouds. So, we definitely decided to soak up the sun while we could find it.
Tips for Palace of Fine Arts Engagement Photos
- DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR. This is unfortunately another hot spot for car break-ins. So, be sure to check your surroundings and never leave anything inside your car and I don’t just mean not in view I mean not at all.
- If you can plan your engagement session on a weekday here I would also highly recommend that. It gets crazy busy here on the weekends and so I do try to avoid it if possible.
- There will be lots of people around, so if you’re shy or don’t want to much attention on you during photos this is probably not the location for you.
- Bring patience. This is a hot spot for tourists and other photographers so you might have to wait for certain spots sometimes but there is lots of space here so don’t worry too much about this!
Even though this wasn’t Wendy and Ryan’s original vision for their engagement photos, these are some of my personal favorites from the Palace of Fine Arts. The sun was showing in the perfect way and the foliage was gorgeous!
Crissy Field
With the plan already off track, we decided to head to Crissy Field for the last part of their session to see if maybe we’d be able to catch a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge. However, the fog was so thick there was no possibility of that happening so we just ran around the field and a few other spots before calling it for the day!
I definitely think the Golden Gate Bridge would have added a special SF touch to these photos. But, with no bridge in sight, I feel like these are giving GAP commercial in the cutest way possible.
