But, here are 10 of the best places for NYC engagement photos! These are located all around the city and there’s a lot more where those come from.
One of the best ways to make your engagement session unique and special is to choose a place or places that are special to you. And if nothing comes to mind then do something during your session to make them special!
1. Central Park
This classic location needs no introduction. From the romantic Bow Bridge to the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain, Central Park offers endless possibilities for breathtaking photos. No matter the season, Central Park provides a picturesque setting that embodies the heart of New York City. There are almost too many places to list in this city staple. It’s definitely the perfect place for NYC engagement photos.
2. West Village
If charming brownstones, cobblestone streets, and a touch of European flair are what you’re after, the West Village is your spot. This neighborhood exudes romance and provides a timeless backdrop for your photos. Stroll hand-in-hand down Grove Street or Perry Street for quintessential West Village vibes. Or maybe head into a local cafe or your favorite bar to make your NYC engagement photos a little more special.
3. New York Public Library
For a touch of grandeur and sophistication, head to the New York Public Library. The majestic architecture, grand staircase, and iconic lion statues create a truly unforgettable setting. This is the perfect location if you’re looking for a place with gorgeous architecture and something a little more high-end for your NYC engagement photos.
Quick Tips for Engagement Photos in the New York Public Library
- If you can arrive early in the morning, as this is a fairly popular spot for photos and crowds.
- If you don’t want to get here early be prepared to be patient as often time people might be walking in and out of the frame and we may just need to wait for certain spots.
4. SoHo
With its cast-iron architecture, art galleries, and trendy boutiques, SoHo offers a vibrant and stylish backdrop for your engagement photos. Capture the urban energy of this iconic neighborhood while showcasing your unique style as a couple. This is perfect backdrop for the more trendy couples that want more photos just walking around enjoying the sites and sounds of SoHo.
5. The High Line
This elevated park built on a historic freight rail line provides a unique perspective of the city. With its lush greenery, urban views, and artistic installations, the High Line offers a modern and romantic setting for your NYC engagement photos. The High Line is open daily from 7 am to 10 pm so be sure to plan accordingly.
6. Top of the Rock
For panoramic views that will take your breath away, head to the Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center. Capture your love with the iconic NYC skyline as your backdrop. This is the perfect spot for couples who want to showcase the city’s grandeur in their photos. There is no additional cost in addition to tickets to the Top of the Rock which consider some other places I’ve photographed engagement session I say that is a steal. Tickets start at $40-$61 depending on any add ons.
7. The Met
The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers a world of possibilities for your engagement photos. From the grand staircase to the rooftop garden with Central Park views, you’ll find endless inspiration within this iconic museum. While their site does say unauthorized and staged photography is not allowed. However, most likely if you go early in the day and are not causing a huge disruption to other guests you should be ok! If asked to leave please do so respectfully you can always ask upon arriving to receive authorization.
Quick Tips for Engagement Photos at the Met
- Go before and plan out where you want. The more you know where to go the faster you’ll be able to get the photos you want.
- Steer clear of the exhibits that are seasonal; these are the ones that tend to be the most crowded.
- This is another location that I would get to right when they open or if you’re a member of the Met then even better.
8. Washington Square Park
This vibrant park in the heart of Greenwich Village is a popular spot for people-watching, street performers, and of course, engagement photos. The iconic arch and fountain provide a classic NYC backdrop for your photos. There can be a lot going on in this little park so if your love story involves this iconic location my best recommendation is to either go super early to avoid crowds or super late.
9. Brooklyn Bridge Park
Brooklyn Bridge Park is right near DUMBO and has absolutely iconic views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the NYC skyline. While this park is technically in Brooklyn I couldn’t help but include it in this list. From the amazing views to the carousel this is the perfect place to tell a little bit of your love story for some truly romantic and fun NYC engagement photos.
10. Brooklyn Bridge
This architectural marvel is a must-have for any NYC engagement photos. Whether you choose to capture the bridge from afar or walk across it hand-in-hand, the Brooklyn Bridge offers a timeless and romantic setting for your photos. This is definitely another location that is worth the early morning sunrise wake up call. The sun rises in the east so you know the lighting is magical plus WAY less crowds of people. So, you’ll actually be able to enjoy the bridge and the iconic view.
Quick Tips for Engagement Photos at the Brooklyn Bridge
- Go early like sunrise if you can. Most people are not early risers so you’ll be able to have a small place of the bridge to yourself.
